Introduction: Literally speaking, Dragon Boat Festival health means wishing each other a safe and healthy Dragon Boat Festival. According to legend, the fifth month of the ancient lunar calendar was considered an "evil month" when the weather was hot and humid and prone to viruses. Epidemic, this Dragon Boat Festival blessing also expresses the beautiful meaning of wishing the other party to spend this period of time safely and healthily. Now let’s introduce why we say Dragon Boat Festival and be healthy on the Dragon Boat Festival, and Dragon Boat Festival is healthy What does it mean? Let’s take a look below.
Dragon Boat Festival means peace, health and a stable life. It is a very popular and grand festival. This day is a festival where we pray for good luck, avoid bad luck, and pray for a happy life. On this day, we cannot say Happy Dragon Boat Festival, we can only say the word "安康", which means living healthily. The word "ankang" comes from the word "happy to visit" and hope that the whole family will be healthy.
Why can’t the Dragon Boat Festival be said to be happy, but to be healthy?
The ancients did not say “well-being on the Dragon Boat Festival”, but it is tradition to wish “Happy Dragon Boat Festival”. The word "well-being" is generally used as a idiom to wish the elderly in daily life; but when used on festivals, it wishes good health to the general public regardless of age or sex, which seems nondescript. The traditional "Happy Dragon Boat Festival" is more appropriate.
Many traditional folk festivals in China are mostly related to sacrifices, such as the Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, Winter Solstice and other happy festivals. Because the Dragon Boat Festival has sacrificial content and cannot express "happiness" to each other, it is a statement that lacks a basic understanding of Chinese culture. It also narrows the form and content of the Dragon Boat Festival and is not conducive to the spread of Dragon Boat culture. The lively dragon boat performances and joyful food banquets during the ancient Dragon Boat Festival are all manifestations of celebrating the festival.
Should we say "happiness" or "well-being" during the Dragon Boat Festival?
Both the Dragon Boat Festival health and the Dragon Boat Festival happiness are correct. The original intention of the Dragon Boat Festival was to be a happy festival. Although the Dragon Boat Festival has the element of commemorating historical figures such as Qu Yuan and Wu Zixu, its most original meaning is the worship and prayer of the dragon totem by the ancients. It also has the meaning of curing diseases, wishing good luck and making everyone happy, so you can wish "Happy Dragon Boat Festival". But it is also said that the Dragon Boat Festival is a sacrificial festival. Legend has it that Wu Zixu committed suicide on this day, Cao E saved his father and threw himself into the Cao E River, and Qu Yuan threw himself into the Miluo River. In short, the fifth day of May is a tragic day, and it is a day for future generations to worship their ancestors. This is also the reason why the blessing of the Dragon Boat Festival is "Dragon Boat Festival is healthy" instead of "Dragon Boat Festival is happy".
About the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival began in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period and has a history of more than 2,000 years. Due to the long history, it is impossible to study the exact origin. There are mainly four legends in the market: commemorating the filial daughter Cao E, commemorating Wu Zixu, ancient Yue national totem sacrifice, and commemorating Qu Yuan. I am more inclined to commemorate Qu Yuan. According to "Historical Records", Qu Yuan was a minister of King Huai of Chu during the Spring and Autumn Period. He advocated the promotion of talents and empowerment, enriched the country and strengthened the military, and advocated uniting Qi to resist Qin. However, he was strongly opposed by the nobleman Zilan and others. Qu Yuan was dismissed from his post, expelled from the capital, and exiled to the Yuan and Xiang rivers. In 278 BC, Qin conquered Kyoto of Chu. Seeing his country being invaded, Qu Yuan bouldered into the Miluo River and died on May 5. After Qu Yuan's death, the local people immediately rowed boats to rescue him after hearing the news. They continued to Dongting Lake, but never saw Qu Yuan's body. A fisherman took out the rice balls, eggs and other food prepared for Qu Yuan and threw them into the river, saying that when the fish, lobsters and crabs were full, they would not bite Dr. Qu's body. People followed suit after seeing it. An old doctor took a jar of realgar wine and poured it into the river, saying it was to stun dragons and water animals so as not to harm Doctor Qu. Later, for fear that the rice balls would be eaten by dragons, people came up with the idea of ??wrapping the rice with nan leaves and wrapping it with colorful silk, which developed into rice dumplings.
