Nankai school song was written on the eve of the May 4th Movement. The soundtrack draws lessons from the widely circulated Christmas song "Oh, Christmas Tree" in the West. The lyrics of Nankai school song are short and regular, and the melody is bold and unrestrained, which well shows the spirit of "fairness and innovation" of Nankai students. ?

At the end of 19 18, President Zhang Boling asked Sun Runsheng, a music teacher, to examine and approve a song, which was "At the party, thousands of people sang in chorus, hoping that God would cast the true spirit of Nankai".

After some consideration, the school song was formally decided in the spring of 19 19.
