Xinjiang Academy is located on the Golden Mountain on the south bank of Xinjiang, Xinzhou District, Shangrao City, and is one of the four ancient academies in Jiangxi. Founded in the thirty-third year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (1694), it was originally named Qujiang Academy, and was renamed Zhong Ling Lecture Hall after being expanded in the fifty-first year of Emperor Kangxi (1712). In the eighth year of Qianlong (1743), a building was built in Houshan to worship Zhu Xi, and it was renamed Ziyang Academy. In the forty-sixth year of Qianlong (1781), it was called Xinjiang Academy.
The courtyard is surrounded by green flowers, and the four-corner cornice Kuixing Pavilion stands on the Zhong Ling platform with carved beams and painted buildings, and the flower windows are blue tiles, which are antique. Dengge overlooks Xinjiang and is far away from Lingshan, giving people a wonderful enjoyment.
In front of Zhong Ling, there are still ancient buildings such as Shumputei, a couch porch, Xixiu Pavilion and Rixin Bookstore. Although Yile Hall has been destroyed, the stone tablet and rockery in front of it are still intact.
