Dragon Boat Festival is the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, also known as Duanyang Festival, Noon Festival, May Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, Bathing Orchid Festival and so on. It is a traditional cultural festival popular in China and other countries in the Chinese character cultural circle.
Dragon Boat Festival originated in China. It was originally a festival to eliminate diseases and prevent epidemics. Before the Spring and Autumn Period in Wuyue, there was a custom of holding tribal totem sacrifices in the form of dragon boat races on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Later, because the poet Qu Yuan died in the Miluo River, it became a traditional festival in China to commemorate Qu Yuan. In some areas, Wu Zixu and Cao E are also commemorated.
