The person involved in the 7.1 Changde collective incident committed suicide once in the Changde Municipal Government last year. In recent months, the relevant provincial departments have repeatedly urged the relevant departments in Changde to handle the matter. The latest progress of the incident is as follows:

1. Event review: The person involved is a resident of Yougang Town, Hanshou County, Changde City. In 1994, Chen Donghong, the eldest son of the family, used his and his four younger siblings' house ownership certificates as collateral for a loan to purchase a spot welding machine. However, he was seized by the Changde City Procuratorate during the transaction, making him unable to repay the loan. Two years later, the Hanshou County Court enforced the law and took back the house. Eighteen people from six households in the Chen family have been displaced since then, and appeals for 15 years have been fruitless.

2. A family of 18 members, the oldest one is 84 years old and the youngest one is 6 years old, publicly announced a mass suicide, and actually did it. This was their second suicide. Three members of the family took poison in front of the Changde Municipal Government in Hunan Province. Fortunately, no one was injured.

3. In February 2011, Xia’s wife handed over the seizure list to the Chen family. When and where did Xia Yingwang obtain the seizure list? Why hasn't it been shown to the public? The deceased is gone, and the answer is hard to know.

In April and March, they went to Changsha to appeal to the Hunan Provincial People's Procuratorate. In late May, the Hunan Provincial People's Procuratorate sent personnel to the Changde City Procuratorate to urge the court to handle the Chen family's complaint. On June 1, the Changde City Procuratorate stated that it would provide a reply to Chen’s family within one month.
