Where is the temple fair on the eighth day of February?

There is a temple fair in Chang'an District of Xi'an on the eighth day of February.

The Wangqu City God's Temple is located in Beibaozhai Village, Wangqu Street, Chang'an District. It was the "Dihuang Temple" where Liu Bang, the founder of the Han Dynasty, enshrined his general Ji Xin. It was renamed the "City God's Temple" during the reign of Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty.

According to legend, Liu Bang was defeated in the Chu-Han Battle of Xingyang.

Han general Ji Xin had a similar appearance to Liu Bang, so he pretended to be Liu Bang and stood at the top of the city to cover Liu Bang's escape through the back door.

Xiang Yu burned Xingyang in anger, and Ji Xin was killed.

After Liu Bang proclaimed himself emperor, he was named "Emperor of Earth".

A temple was built in Wangqu to show his loyalty and bravery, and later it was changed to the city god who sent people to pay tribute every year on the eighth day of the second lunar month.

Later emperors named him the Chief City God of the Thirteen Provinces (13 provinces in China during the Ming Dynasty). Ji Xin became the patron saint of Chang'an City.

Good men and women worship the city gods from various places such as Qi, Lu, Jin, Hebei, Henan, Huizhou and other places.

In 2006, it was included in the Shaanxi Province Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

Every year on the 8th day of the second lunar month, large-scale commemorative activities are held, attracting people from all over the country to come to worship and visit.

Since it is a large-scale event, the government will also organize manpower to maintain order and divert traffic to ensure the smooth progress of the event.

Temple fair activities: Due to the great reputation of Wangqu Chenghuang Temple, there are so many tourists. The streets that are several kilometers long are almost full of tourists. After visiting the Chenghuang Temple, people have fun on the streets and taste delicious food.

The street stalls mainly focus on food and are mainly concentrated between Wangqu Village Cultural Square and Wangqu Subdistrict Office. The stalls here are planned in a unified way and the stall sheds are made in a unified way.

There are also very long stalls outside these two places, but the stall sheds are not made by the government but are left to the stall owners themselves.

There are all kinds of snacks, such as barbecued meat, coconuts, large watermelons, sugar cane, Jiaodai Town beef, Lantian fairy powder, etc., which is a real feast for your taste buds.
