In history, Anchang used to be an important town with merchants gathered and developed economy, and it was also a product distribution center connecting more than 1 miles of Fiona Fang, especially in the cotton textile industry. Anchang "relied on the benefits of water transportation and abundant products" and became an important cotton distribution center in the whole eastern Zhejiang region for hundreds of years. At that time, businessmen from all over the country couldn't go home in the twelfth lunar month, so the people in Anchang used various local customs to comfort the homesickness of the guests from all over the world. Now they can still see more than 2 traditional food crafts such as wrapping zongzi, filling sausages, making rice cakes and pulling white sugar on the old street in Anchang, as well as social operas, Yue operas and lotus drops staged on the stage near the river in the ancient town every year. As a result, the various folk customs of the twelfth lunar month have been preserved, and today the local people also regard the twelfth lunar month as a grand festival.
