I originally planned to practice in the summer vacation, but I quit my original internship because I didn't think it was appropriate. After that, I wanted to find another one, but there was no news until the end of July. The last summer vacation, I don't want to spend it like this.
so, I restarted the previous alternative option-working and changing accommodation. Considering the distance (traffic convenience) and the little pocket money left, I decided to go to Guilin.
I found the relevant information in volunteer travel in VOLUNTOUR (WeChat official account, which I paid attention to a long time ago, is more reliable). I filled in the registration form carefully. In less than 24 hours, someone added my WeChat to contact me and asked me some basic information.
After that, I added the QQ of the shopkeeper, made a simple self-introduction, skills and hobbies and time arrangement, and got to know the basic contents of volunteer work in the inn. The communication with the shopkeeper (innkeeper) was quite smooth. At the end of the conversation, it was basically settled-I went to the inn on August 1.
Although this decision is not crazy, it can be regarded as a new breakthrough compared with yourself now in the comfort zone: going to another city alone and starting another life.
at the age of 2, I don't know what I can do. However, after experiencing this slightly sad July, I suddenly seem to understand something: let go of what I want to do, and have no regrets in youth! Many years later, I can still remember the mood at this moment: a little expectation and a little excitement! Fortunately, there is no fear.
everything is settled. Don't worry about the past, don't be afraid of the future, wait for August and find another possibility of life!
I bought a ticket from Guangzhou South to Guilin North on August 1st two days before departure (RMB137;; 2h 4 min), this is my first time to take a bullet train. Depart on August first. The scenery on the way was very good, so we went north one stop at a time.
Arrive at Guilin North Station in the afternoon, and get to the inn soon by bus. Inn in the community, three-story duplex, small and fresh decoration style. Because it is located on the top floor, plus the height limit of Guilin, it has a wider view and is surrounded by mountains.
but to be honest, compared with my expectations, I still feel a little lost.
First of all, the air in Guilin is slightly polluted, which has been continuous since the day I arrived, and the high temperature is comparable to that in Guangzhou.
Secondly, the inn here basically has guests checking out every day, so every morning on duty (taking turns to be on duty and taking a break) is not easy at all, but the afternoon and evening are fine, but trivial things keep happening and time is cut to pieces.
finally, I suddenly feel homesick. When I first arrived at the inn these days, I watched Xiong Peiyun's The Hometown Chaser, in which many plots evoked my deep nostalgia for my hometown.
this is especially true when cooking at noon. I can cook for two people I just met, but I have never cooked a decent lunch for my parents. I thought to myself at that time: this holiday, I must go back and cook a meal for my parents.
As the work got started and the process became familiar, my disappointment was quickly compressed.
The basic tasks on the day of duty are: in the morning, prepare breakfast; if the guest checks out, tidy the room (including cleaning and making the bed) and make lunch; In the afternoon, sit at the front desk, receive incoming guests and provide other services. I occasionally go to the balcony to water the flowers in the afternoon.
On the first night on duty, Sister Yun (the shopkeeper) taught us how to make bread. The next morning, I opened the lid of the bread machine and thought, I have learned to make bread.
Sister Yun always has a lot of novel snacks, and there are fruits in the refrigerator. During this period, she also taught me how to make coffee and cooked Sichuan style pork. If my biggest gain in the inn is anything, it must be cooking.
you will meet all kinds of guests in the inn, some are warm-hearted and friendly, some are difficult and picky, and sometimes there will be some trouble. But overall, it's okay.
An aunt from Beijing visited Kaili, Guizhou Province during the holiday, and found that the air ticket from Kaili to Guilin was only 5 yuan, so she came by. When I had dinner with Sister Yun at noon, she always sighed with us, "I went out this morning to see the food sold by small vendors and wanted to buy it. You can't buy such dishes in Beijing. The spinach in the vegetable market is thin and long, and there is no taste of vegetables. " It turns out that for people in many big cities, it is also a kind of happiness to eat this dish.
I also met two boys riding from Hunan in the inn. Arriving in Guilin, they have ridden nearly 4 kilometers, and their destination is Beihai. The whole journey is guided by navigation, and there is no established route. One of the boys said, "I will ride the Sichuan-Tibet line if I have the chance in the future." "Such young people can bear hardships and have their own ideas".
I also met a girl from Yili, Xinjiang, and made a super-detailed tour guide for Yunjie and me in Xinjiang. Apricot blossoms in Yili, eternal yearning.
I often see the whole family going out to contract three or four rooms. I can see the happiness of the smile on the old man's face.
In the inn, I also met fellow villagers and young photographers with Chinese style ... The characters were various, which made me see many unknown things.
8.3 East-West Alley
On the afternoon of the third day, Sister Yun asked us to take a stroll in East-West Alley because we had finished our work in the morning. It's about five or six stops from the inn by bus.
8.4
My partner A Qing left first because of something urgent, and I was the only volunteer in the inn. Sister Yun asked me to clean and make the bed in the morning, and I was free to control it in the afternoon and evening.
8.5 Two Rivers and Four Lakes Scenic Area
Guilin's business card-Two Rivers and Four Lakes. Sister Yun said that we could visit them one by one. I walked around in the afternoon and visited two lakes.
If it's at noon, it should be no different from ordinary parks, but it's still beautiful to go in the afternoon on a sunny day. Against the backdrop of mountains and rivers, the sunset is magnificent.
8.7 Xiangshan Scenic Area
There is nothing in the afternoon, so Sister Yun will let you go. Riding a yellow car, I basically visited the scenic spots of the two rivers and four lakes and Xiangshan Park. I prefer this natural color to artificial lighting at night, so I didn't wait for dark to go back.
Then I visited the pedestrian street at the intersection of Xicheng, met many shops with ethnic characteristics and ate very cheap and delicious watermelons.
I waited for the No.1 bus to return to the inn at the intersection of Xicheng, but there was no bus after a long wait. I just sit and play with my mobile phone. A grandfather next to me said kindly, "Little girl, don't miss the bus by playing with your mobile phone." At that time, my heart was warm.
8.11 Reed Flute Scenic Area
After waking up in the afternoon, I went out, thought about it and decided to go to Lujia Village. But it's cloudy, and I'm afraid it will rain. Halfway through the ride, I turned to the slightly closer Reed Flute Scenic Area.
follow the pointing card and follow your heart. There are many old-fashioned low-flat houses near the Reed Flute Scenic Area, and I quite like hanging around them. The trees are shaded, the buildings are old and the walls are mottled. I can clearly feel the traces of time. However, the weather was rather gloomy, and I returned at the right time before I arrived at Lujia Village.
8.12-8.15
It basically rains in Guilin these days.
it's raining. I have mixed feelings of sadness and joy. Sad, because it rains, I can't go out to play; Yes, it's because there are fewer guests booking in rainy days, so I'm naturally relaxed.
The rain usually stops at around seven o'clock in the evening, so naturally I can't be idle. Often say hello to Sister Yun, and then sneak out to eat. Although I haven't eaten all the shops nearby, I have basically seen them.
8.17 Duxiufeng-Wangcheng Scenic Area
I didn't look at the navigation of the mobile phone, but looked at the road sign and rode all the way. Unconsciously, I arrived at Duxiufeng-Jingjiang Wangfu area. So I abandoned the car and walked. However, I didn't go into the palace.
because of the continuous precipitation for several days, the water level of the river has risen. The river bed is wider than usual. I walked along the river to Xiaoyao Building.
I climbed up the tall building, and the sunset was dazzling, and my eyes seemed to be lost.
8.18-8.21
I just wandered around these days, but there was nothing new ~
8.21 Yushan Bridge-Lijiang River
I decided to leave the inn on August 23rd. At lunch on the 22nd, Sister Yun asked me if I had gained anything. I replied, "of course, for example, I seem to like cooking now."
Sister Yun said that any youth hostel would want you to be a volunteer at your present level.
I am very happy when I listen. This is an affirmation to me, cherish it ~
Later, she booked me a day trip from Guilin to Yangshuo as a reward.
on the morning of 23rd, I left like this. This city remained in my memory. I have walked through the streets and lanes, stopped to miss the sunset, but I have to go away at any time.
Key words: motorcycle, food stall, karst cave
If I want to sum up this city in three words, I will choose "motorcycle", "food stall" and "karst cave". Needless to say, the landscape caves are already a business card of Guilin.
In the city of Guilin, in the evening, the special motorcycle lanes on the roadside become crowded. I tried to take the bus several times when I went out, but I was blocked by the motorcycle flow. Some pedestrian sections are also occupied by parked motorcycles.
several food stalls outside the community are full of people in the evening, with more than a dozen big round tables. Some of them were shouting, others were eating and drinking.
Walking in the busiest commercial street in Guilin, the number of people is "scarce", even worse than the food stalls in the community. I suddenly feel that life is a step slower. Perhaps it's because people who have seen the shopping malls in Shangxiajiu and Tianhe City in Guangzhou are crowded. When they meet this quiet shopping spot, they feel a little uncomfortable, but they enjoy it.
The specifications are consistent, and the arched roof
The height of Guilin is limited, so the height of the house is very consistent. The roof is also very uniform. What I saw in the north of Guilin is basically arched.
There are various kinds of noodles, which are cheap.
There will be various rice noodle shops along the street in Guilin, which are basically very cheap. I ordered a beef hot and sour powder at a noodle shop in Wal-Mart. The price was 8 yuan, which was full and delicious.
The picture above shows snail powder eaten in Dongxixiang. A bronze medal was also hung in front of the shop. Looking closely, "Guilin Duofen Festival netizens like shops best". Hey, what is the "Duo Fen Festival"?
besides noodles, there are many fruits that are very cheap. No wonder there are always mangoes and grapes in Sister Yun's refrigerator. I once bought an iced watermelon at the intersection of Xicheng. I said, about 6 yuan is enough. But I didn't expect that 6 yuan was nearly two or three pounds.
1. Expenditure summary
24-day main expenses (including two days of sightseeing in Yangshuo):
Round-trip fare: ① Guangzhou-Guilin ticket: RMB 137.5; ② Return ticket from Yangshuo to Guangzhou: ¥117.
Daily expenses: I usually eat with Sister Yun, occasionally go out to play, I will eat noodles outside, and I will also buy snacks to eat snacks (a big expense (? _? )), and some daily necessities.
Accommodation: Yangshuo Youth Travel Service: ¥4
The total cost is about 67.
Second, volunteer travel should not be idealized
If I have to score this volunteer trip, I will give it a score of 7 (1 points). Summarizing my experience and the cases I have read in the past, the following are some suggestions and opinions I have given:
1. The staff room provided by the inn for volunteers may not be better than ordinary beds. There are only two kinds of accommodation for volunteers in youth travel or inn, one is staff room and the other is ordinary bed. My inn provides a staff room, but I think it is more like a utility room, with a small space and a little messy. Individuals are more casual and acceptable ~ < P > 2. The working hours are unstable, which is closely related to the time and place of travel. Take Guilin, where I live, as an example. Summer vacation is the peak season for tourism, and there is a great demand for accommodation. The inn is basically full every day. The scenic spots in the city can basically be visited in a day or two, so guests will check out after staying for a day or two. This means that the inn has to tidy up the rooms every day, and the number is not small, and my workload is also large. However, when the weather and other factors interfere, the workload will be greatly reduced.
3. The work content is repetitive and detailed. Taking my work as an example, tidying up the room seems simple. However, today's B&B inns are relying on meticulous and unique services to win the trust and support of their guests and build their own brand image. Therefore, cleaner, more hygienic and more humane has become their pursuit. As a volunteer, it is natural to do things well and carefully as required.
4. If you have an idea in your heart, you must actively communicate with your boss. As a volunteer, if you are unhappy, you must bring it up with me. Solve the existing problems and speak out your inner thoughts. In this way, it is good for both sides ~
Uncle Chen's songs always give me courage and urge me to take every "first step". The story is really easy to write, but the years are gone. Try more while you are still young, and it is worthwhile at this moment!
it's not a great thing to travel to volunteer alone, but every "first time" in life is worth remembering ~
