The traditional specialties of Zhuang nationality include: five-color glutinous rice, bamboo rice, zongzi, lotus cake, blood sausage, Zhuangjiajiao rammed chicken and so on. Zhuang nationality is the most populous ethnic minority in China, living in areas where rice is grown. Therefore, Zhuang people like to eat rice and rice porridge, food made of glutinous rice, pigs, cows, chickens, ducks and fish, drinking and being hospitable.
1. Five-color glutinous rice
Five-color glutinous rice, also known as "black rice", is a traditional snack in Buyi and Zhuang areas, which is named after the five colors of glutinous rice: black, red, yellow, purple and white. Every year on the third day of the third lunar month or in Tomb-Sweeping Day, Guangxi people make it, and Zhuang people regard five-color glutinous rice as a symbol of good luck.
2. Bamboo-tube rice
Bamboo-tube rice is also one of the traditional delicacies of Zhuang nationality. Fresh bamboo is cut into two pieces, the middle part is kept, the lid is opened on it, the meat, glutinous rice and other ingredients are put away, then the lid is sealed and steamed in the pot, which is very delicious.
3. Zongzi
Zongzi is a welcome food in Zhuang areas, and it is always served to guests at home. The Zhuang people regard Zongzi as a symbol of bumper harvest.
4. Lotus hair cake
Lotus hair cake is an essential special food for worshipping ancestors in Nanning. Lotus hair cake has three colors: burnt yellow, muddy yellow and snow white, and burnt yellow hair cake is the most traditional and authentic practice.
5. Blood sausage
Blood sausage is a traditional food of Zhuang people. When killing pigs, it is filled with salt water to collect blood, then stirred to make it not solidify, mixed with minced lard, minced onion, salt, ginger powder, pepper and other seasonings, enema, tied tightly and boiled in a pot.
6. Zhuangjiabao rammed chicken
Zhuangjiabao rammed chicken is a unique traditional dish of the Zhuang nationality in Guangnan County, Wenshan Prefecture, and is called "a must in Yunnan".
