In the past, there were many time-honored brands on both sides of Zhengyang Street. In addition to gongs and rouge, the ancillary products derived from the big stage also included the row of snacks at the door, with mouth-watering names - "Ma Shaomai", "
Behind "Li Liangui Bacon Pancake" there are hidden stories.
Although it cannot be regarded as an authentic commercial street, Zhengyang Street occupies a geographical advantage because it crisscrosses Zhong Street, so it has a more or less commercial flavor.
And those business names engraved deep in the memories of old Shenyang people, once discovered, exude an alluring charm.
This charm spreads in the air, accompanying the past events of the Forbidden City and Imperial City, recording the historical changes of Shenyang Old City.
Today, the big stage is still there, but it has just been renamed "Liu Laogen", but the twists and fried cakes that were named after the big stage are no longer found.
According to the few records, "Big Stage Mahua" is also called "Zhang Mahua" and was founded by Zhang Xingde in Huangsha Tuozi Village, Tai'an County in 1926.
In 1941, Zhang Xingde and his family came to Shenyang and first opened a twist workshop in Xiaodongmen. After Zhang Xingde's son Zhang Hanyu took charge of the business, he moved the twist workshop to the vicinity of the "Big Stage" theater in 1948. Therefore, "Big Stage Twist" became the
Then the shouts started.
In the memory of the old people, the crispy big stage twists are unrivaled in today’s delicacies.
At first, the sales point of Da Stage Ma Hua was at the entrance of the alley on the west side of Da Stage. Later, as the business boomed, Da Stage Ma Hua began to have its own store and no longer sold it at a stall.
An old man nearby recalled: "At that time, everyone was queuing up to buy twists. How crispy was this twist? You might not believe it. When you pick up a piece of twist, it's less than half a meter high. If you drop it on the table like this, the twist will be so crispy."
All broken into small pieces, it’s not an exaggeration at all.” There used to be a building called Lianfengtang at the south end of Zhengyang Street. What was Lianfengtang for?
The old people joke that the last word can remind you of its purpose. In fact, it is a bathhouse that is rare in old Shenyang City.
According to records, Lianfengtang was built in 1913 and was jointly established by Zhang Shengsan and several other people from Dalian who invested 7,000 yuan.
The name of Lian Fengtang is also derived from the suffix and first character in the names of Dalian and Fengtian.
Since its construction, Lianfengtang, Jinlan Pavilion in Zhongjie, Chengyingquan in Beishi, and Fengda in Tiexi have been known as the four major bathhouses in Fengtian.
When Shenyang people recognized bathing as an indispensable part of their lives, public bathhouses began to develop continuously.
When Renfengdang was first built, like many small-scale bathhouses, they were all low-rise bungalows, and the layout was quite simple.
However, even though the primitive methods of digging water from wells and boiling water in large pots were used, it was quite difficult for bathhouses to reach this level in China at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China.
With the continuous improvement of business methods, Lianfengtang began to expand in 1924 and built a two-story building. The interior of the bathhouse also began to be divided into different standards for ordinary and private rooms.
Compared with the small bathhouse, the expanded Lienfengtang has much better internal facilities. It is not only spacious and bright, but more importantly, the sanitary conditions are very good, the storage boxes are quite spacious, and there are simple rest beds for guests.
Provide towels with "Bath" printed on them.
Because it is located on Zhengyang Street, Lianfengtang has attracted the owners and shopkeepers of some large shops on Zhongjie Street in its south end with its superior geographical location and high-quality services.
The upper-class figures in the Shuai Mansion at the north end also frequented it. According to records, Zhang Xueliang, Guo Songling and others have visited Lian Fengtang many times.
For this reason, Lian Fengtang specially set up an official pool on the second floor for these characters to bathe and rest.
Until the 1960s, the business was booming, and there was an endless stream of customers coming to bathe. The pedicure master in the bathhouse was even rated as a model worker in Shenyang City.
However, this old bathhouse did not escape the rules of historical elimination. It disappeared quietly at the intersection of Zhengyang Street and Shengjing Road.
There is no sign of Ma Shaomai on Zhengyang Street today, but it is said that this now-famous snack did flourish here.
As early as the first year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, a businessman named Ma Chunsheng was doing siomai business in Fengtianfu.
He pushes a wheelbarrow to busy places such as Xiaoximenli Grain Market, carrying raw materials and cooking utensils with him, and sells them while packing.
Ma Chunsheng's siomai has attracted many customers due to its meticulous selection of ingredients and unique formula.
In the eighth year of Daoguang's reign, Ma Chunsheng's son Guangyuan set up a store outside the horse blocking wall of Xiaoximen and officially hung up the plaque of "Ma Shaomai".
Since then, the Ma Shaomai business has become increasingly prosperous, with customers filling the door all day long.
During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, when Zuo Guogui, the registered admiral of Gaoqiao Town under General Chongshi, was ordered to repair the Xiaoximen Gate Tower, the Ma Shaomai business was naturally affected. At this time, Ma Shaomai already had many customers, so these people were quite concerned about it.
They are dissatisfied and hope that this construction will not deprive them of their happiness.
Hearing this, Zuo Guogui was a little curious. He was wondering what kind of siomai could make people pursue it so persistently, so he tasted it himself and felt that it was wonderful. At the same time, he also felt that the people's voice was reasonable, so
Zuo Guoguo then licensed Ma Shaomai to move to another location, built two more houses near Xiaoximen, reopened Ma Shaomai restaurant, and personally wrote a plaque for it. After several generations, this snack has been passed down to this day.
In 1915, Ma Shaomai was passed down from Ma Changyong to his descendants, brothers Ma Hongfang and Ma Mingqing, until 1948, when the two brothers were unable to operate due to their old age, and they started and stopped.
