The name of aphtha first appeared in Huangdi Neijing, for example, The Great Theory of Su Wen and Qi Alternation says, "It's not as good as gold, but it's ok to burn fire ... people get aphtha." It is believed that the onset of aphtha is related to climate. Later doctors divided it into two categories: excess and deficiency, and most of the positive cases were caused by heart fire rising or stomach fire rising or damp-heat fumigation; Deficiency syndrome is mostly caused by deficiency of kidney yin and deficiency of fire.

This case is a recurrent oral ulcer. The patient's constitution belongs to yin deficiency, and it is known as stagnation of heat, and it often recurs due to improper diet. Stomach-heat impairs body fluid, and then it will dry for several days. Disharmony between spleen and stomach, abnormal ascending and descending, so poor diet and indigestion are seen. Combined with the comprehensive analysis of the patient's tongue and pulse, the syndrome belongs to yin deficiency and heat. The treatment is mainly to relieve depression, clear heat and promote fu-organs, and add and subtract bamboo leaf gypsum soup. Adding Flos Lonicerae and Fructus Forsythiae to absorb heat; Pseudostellaria heterophylla, Ophiopogon japonicus and Anemarrhena asphodeloides have the functions of benefiting qi and nourishing yin, clearing away heat and promoting fluid production; Cogongrass rhizome and scutellaria baicalensis Georgi cool serum and heat.
