Sushi is a traditional Japanese food and an ancient food originating from China. In Japanese, "sushi" is just a phonetic reading, which means sumeshi, and the corresponding Chinese characters, besides "sushi", are also written as "Yi" or "Chi". According to textual research, these two Chinese characters, which originated from China's classics, were spread to Japan with monks studying abroad in Sui and Tang Dynasties.
