The school's predecessor was Guangxi Zhenlin Normal School, which was founded in 1945. In 1952, it was renamed Yulin Normal School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Guangxi Yulin Normal College. In 1978, Yulin Teachers College was restored with the approval of the State Council. In 1994, it was renamed Yulin Teachers College.
