Because there are too many pesticides.
Dried snakehead is actually a popular food among Burmese people. In Myanmar, you can see fish in many ways, so there are many local fish products, especially dried fish. But it can be said that the most famous is this dried snakehead, which is made from the local snakehead in Myanmar. Many Burmese locals regard dried snakehead as a very popular snack and give it as a gift to relatives and friends, but the price is more expensive, about RMB 141. Although many locals like it, they don't eat it often. If you want to say the most famous dried snakehead producing area in Myanmar, it is Bagu area. However, dried snakehead in Bogu area is only famous for its excellent production technology. As for the raw snakehead, most of them are shipped from the freshwater lakes of Luwu Town, Wozhen Town and Danabin Town outside Bogu.
However, in recent years, the output of dried snakehead in Myanmar has been decreasing year by year, and the price is getting higher and higher. Why is this? The first is that the degree of industrialization is not high or basically not high. Dried snakehead in Myanmar is not only very popular at home, but also very famous abroad. Therefore, Myanmar also exports a large number of dried snakehead to foreign countries every year. With the dual market at home and abroad, we can imagine how high the demand for snakehead in Myanmar is. Unfortunately, so far, snakehead has not been systematically bred in Myanmar. Most snakeheads are caught by fishermen in natural freshwater lakes. The snakehead is caught when it grows up. Once a natural disaster occurs, there is no need to take any remedial measures, the output of snakehead will be greatly reduced, and they are more dependent on nature.
Second, a large number of pesticides are used. Usually, pesticides are used to prevent crops from being damaged by diseases and insect pests, which has nothing to do with snakehead itself. But snakeheads usually choose to lay their eggs in calm waters. The snakehead spawns once, which is estimated to be hundreds of thousands. The spawning period of snakehead is the same as the local rice planting period. If farmers use pesticides when sowing, they will be killed together with the black fish eggs. Local farmers also use electric shock fishing for large-scale fishing. In addition, in recent years, due to the neglect of natural environmental problems, the area of many lakes in Myanmar has been shrinking. Various factors have also caused people's lives, and the number of snakehead in the lake has decreased.
