Nepal - Worshiping the Goddess The Nepali New Year is held in January (April-May in the Gregorian calendar). It is also called Hanukkah. On this day, people first take a bath, dress up in festive costumes and place the king's sword at the feet of the statue.

A grand mass rally will be held on the tank. People will carry the statue of Machindranath in procession, and then install the statue on a large ornately decorated float to parade through the streets to accept people's worship.
