The City Line construction plan reorganizes several original MRT routes to Marina Bay and provides MRT services to corridor areas that currently run parallel to the East-West Line and are unable to use the East-West Line. The Tuas West Extension Line is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in 2015, while the Tuas South Branch Line will be built later. Like the Boon Lay Extension, the entire Tuas Extension will be a fully elevated section.
On January 25, 2008, Transport Minister Lim Suang Ket announced that the Marina Bay Extension Line will be built.
