——Reflections on "Guli and Gula"
Day 17 of the 21-day experience notes of the picture book reading instructor certification class. Today’s practice reading picture book "Guri and Gula" has been translated into 8 languages. It is one of Japan's most well-known classic picture books overseas and is deeply loved by children from all over the world.
The book was selected in Japan's "Top 100 Japanese Picture Books" compiled by the Japan Children's Literature Scholars Association, and is a "Basic Book" selected by Japan's National School Library Agreement. It was also selected in "Picture Books: 500 Volumes for Children" compiled by the Japanese Children's Picture Book Research Department.

This book tells the story of the field mice Guli and Gula who discovered an oversized egg, and then overcame difficulties in order to eat it. Together they finally made the egg into a cake and shared it with their friends in the forest.
This book is very imaginative and childish. In the book, Guli and Gula came up with many ways to move the cooking tools, dragging and crawling them, and then worked together to complete the cake making. Finally, they saw
The little animals gathered around, they generously took out cakes to share with everyone, and finally made a small cart out of used egg shells, which was unexpected, creative and fascinating.
"Gulli and Gula" is a picture book that is very insightful into children's nature. It is extremely kind and joyful to read.
The story unfolds with the child's favorite theme of "making delicious food, eating delicious food". "Eating delicious food" can satisfy the appetite, and "making delicious food" is an imitation game, playing house-style roles.
Children always enjoy switching.
Guli and Gula are kind and cute. They overcome difficulties together and have delicious food to share with their friends. The lively and cheerful scenes in the forest have fascinated countless young readers and subtly taught children a lot, such as cooperation, sharing, and labor...
The amount of text in this picture book is not too small, and it contains narratives, dialogues, songs and other forms. It is very suitable for three- and four-year-old children: they like to talk to themselves, sing children's songs, and are willing to talk about big and small things.
Tell others.
In my practice of reading to my younger brother, I sang and read the first part of the song: "Our name is Guli? What does Gula like most in the world? Good food. Eat delicious Guli Gu."
"La Guligula" Soon, my brother joined me in singing, and the happy reading began!
When he saw the big egg part, my brother started to make various gestures. The egg was as big as a lamp, as big as an air conditioner, as big as grandparents, and as big as our house. Haha, the exaggerated yet cute appearance is unbearable.
More than handsome.
When I read about how to get the eggs back, the heuristic questions made my brother guess again, and he also learned about the composition of eggs.
When Gu Li and Gu La went home to get things, they took their younger brother with them to find out and count the things they had taken.
Then I read the cake making part intensively and explained the cake materials and processes in detail.
While waiting for the cake, I took my brother to discover the animals that came by smell. This search process is my brother’s favorite part, and it is as interesting and fun as our usual visual discoveries.
On the next page, more and more small animals came around. We were still looking for them, and explained the "cheapskate" by the way.
Afterwards, after eating the cake happily, the younger brother understood the concept of sharing and cooperation, and also asked the younger brother to guess what else eggs can be used for, and another discussion took place.
Finally, we agreed that we would make cakes with my mother on the weekends, follow the process in the picture book, and sing the songs in the book. It would be a happy food trip.
There is no preaching language in the book such as "good things should be shared together", but simple words such as "Guli and Gula are not stingy, please wait a moment, I will treat you to a cake later", and then "Everyone is very happy."
"The happiness that this kind of sharing brings to everyone can be read and experienced by the children themselves, and they can eat and play together. This kind of sharing does not need to be deliberate, and children will spontaneously understand that sharing is not being asked to give, but ***
Do something happy together.
