Stone piles are inserted into the water by the seaside to raise Liyu pearl oysters.
It is a coastal town located in the southeast of Yunxiao County and on the west coast of Dongshan Bay. The coastline is bounded by Houjiang Village in Chendai Town to the south and Jiaoyang Village of Dongxia Town to the north. It stretches for 18 kilometers and is covered with sandy belts and shallow beach soil.
Natural pebbles, and abundant oysters naturally grow on the rocks when the tide rises. The oyster meat is small and crystal clear, so it is called pearl oyster.
Opening oysters at the beach was the first choice for village girls and women during the farming era to follow the tides. Most of the harvest was for their own consumption, and a few were sold in the market.
Lieyu Pearl Oyster was selected to be included in the "Yunxiao Famous Specialty Products" compiled by the Yunxiao County Local Chronicles Compilation Committee and the Yunxiao County Market Supervision and Administration Bureau in 2019.
This kind of flower that blooms on the stone is not only a famous specialty, but also a favorite delicacy.
