The Origin and History of Taifu Road in Xiangyin
The "Taifu" here refers to Zuo Zongtang.

Zuo Zongtang is a native of Xiangyin. He has experienced important historical events such as the movement to pacify the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, the Westernization Movement, the rebellion against the Tongzhi Rebellion in Shaanxi and Gansu, and the recovery of Xinjiang to safeguard China's reunification.

Zuo Zongtang died on September 5, 1885, at the age of 73. The court posthumously awarded him and posthumous title Wenxiang. Sacrifice Zhaozhong Temple and Xianliang Temple in Jingshi, and build special temples in Hunan and meritorious provinces.

In memory of Zuo Zongtang, this road was named "Taifu Road". In addition, the only public square in the county is called Zuo Zongtang Square, and there is a hotel called Zuo Zongtang Hotel. As for Zuo Zongtang's former residence and Zuo Wenxiang Temple, they are even more important cultural attractions in Xiangyin County.
