Shanwei city is located in the southeast coast of Guangdong province, between 2.27-23.28 degrees north latitude and 114.54-116.13 degrees east longitude. It is adjacent to Jieyang City in the east and the junction with Huilai County; Huizhou City in the west and Huidong County in the west; It is connected to Heyuan City in the north and Zijin County in the north; South of the South China Sea, across the sea from Hong Kong. Shanwei landform area is a multi-cycle orogenic area of Cathaysian platform, with frequent geological tectonic movements and magmatic activities. The Jurassic Yanshanian orogeny basically laid the outline of modern landforms in this area. The most recent event in the history of the earth is the Himalayan Movement, which caused the Shanwei area to be characterized by fault uplift and flat collapse, resulting in erosion, exploitation and accumulation, rising in the north and declining in the south. Later, the neotectonic movement continued to rise, making granite gradually exposed to the surface, forming vast granite mountains, hills and platforms.
The geological age of Shanwei is the Upper Triassic, and then the Quaternary of Jurassic. The rocks are mainly composed of granite, sand shale and the fourth series of alluvial gravel. Through the action of nature and human activities, it forms a complex soil type. Soil types include: paddy soil, southern mountain meadow soil, yellow soil, red soil, lateritic red soil, vegetable garden soil, tidal sand soil, coastal saline marsh soil, coastal sandy soil and stony soil, with more than 1 kinds of soil, more than 4 soil genera and more than 7 soil species.

Language and culture
Except Luhe, Hailufeng Fulao dialect (also called Hailufeng dialect) is commonly used, belonging to Minnan sub-dialect of Min dialect. Haifeng and the urban accent are basically the same, but they are different from Lufeng accent.
