Dongguan is known as the "hometown of litchi" and is famous at home and abroad for its color, fragrance and taste. Dongguan litchi, which is full of food, is known as "the first product in Lingnan".

Litchi planting in Dongguan has a long history. "Dongguan County Records" records that "litchi is as sweet as glutinous rice, which varies from species to species and is the highest in Lingnan".

Litchi is mainly distributed in the mountains, hills and Putian areas of Dongguan. The main producing areas are more than 20 towns such as Da Lang, Dalingshan and Liaobu, which are the fist products of Dongguan fruits.

The main varieties of litchi in Dongguan are glutinous rice paste, Guiwei, Feizixiao, March Red, black leaf, Sophora branches and other traditional fine varieties. In recent years, new varieties such as red hydrangea and seedless litchi have been cultivated. It is worthy of praise that the glutinous rice mixed litchi in Dalingshan Town is famous at home and abroad for its big size, thin skin, rich meat, sweet fruit and strong taste. It won the gold medal in the first National Agricultural Expo and the gold medal in Beijing International Agricultural Expo.

"There are 300 lychees a day. I don't hesitate to be a Lingnan person when I grow up." Su Dongpo's famous sentence has become an advertising word for litchi in Dongguan.
