Dog is one of the earliest domesticated "six animals". Before the Han Dynasty, it was common to eat dog meat in all parts of China, and some areas gradually stopped eating dog meat after the Han Dynasty. But most parts of Guizhou still keep the custom of eating dog meat. Among them, "Buyi dog meat" has a unique flavor, which is said to have a history of more than 300 years. By the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, the government was corrupt and incompetent, wars were frequent, and the production and living standards were low. The people are hungry, clothed, poor and sick, and malaria is a disaster. People are powerless to prevent and treat after illness. Occasionally, a domestic dog that was killed by a hoe was depilated, washed and cooked, and malaria was eliminated and the body recovered. As soon as the story spread, everyone who suffered from the disease did the same thing, and it really worked. At the same time, I feel that eating dog meat can also increase heat energy, and it has the functions of expelling wind and removing dampness, refreshing and invigorating qi. Since then, dog meat has become a cure and tonic in the local area.
Dog meat is a favorite food of Buyi people, and it is also a delicacy that Buyi people often use to entertain guests. It is well received by domestic and foreign tourists. Driven by Wuji Buyi national flavor dog meat restaurant, many dog meat restaurants with different names, such as "local flavor, Zhenning flavor, Liuma flavor and hillbilly", have emerged successively, forming a dog meat restaurant with local ethnic characteristics centered on Zhenba Road Dog Meat Street in Zhenning County. Buyi dog meat is a unique delicacy formed by carefully improving the cooking technology on the basis of the traditional practices of local ethnic minorities, especially Buyi people. In July 2003 and July 2005, it was awarded the title of "Guizhou Famous Hot Pot" and "Guizhou Famous Cuisine" successively. It is listed as "China Guizhou Cuisine" and included in "China Famous Cuisine Ceremony Guizhou Volume" and "Guizhou Cuisine Encyclopedia".
