Acute diarrhea is mostly related to exogenous factors and diet, while chronic diarrhea is mostly related to emotional and physical weakness.

The contents of key observation during diarrhea

In the treatment of diarrhea, the following aspects are of great significance in determining syndrome types and selecting prescriptions and drugs, so it is necessary to focus on observation.

Smell of stool: foul gas, mostly heat (fire) diarrhea; Stinky as a defeated egg is indigestion and diarrhea.

The patency of stool: diarrhea is not smooth, and the interior is urgent and then heavy, mostly due to intestinal stagnation or qi deficiency diarrhea.

The amount and color of urine: the amount of urine is not smooth, mostly wet diarrhea; Less urine is yellow or red, mostly due to heat diarrhea.

Whether it is accompanied by abdominal pain and bloating: if the abdomen is distended without pain, or if the bowel sounds, it is mostly wet diarrhea; The pain is mostly heat diarrhea; Colic lasts more than cold diarrhea; The pain is diarrhea, and the pain after diarrhea is slow, which is diarrhea due to liver depression and spleen deficiency.

1. Damp diarrhea: caused by feeling damp evil. Symptoms: watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, overactive bowel sounds, scanty urine, reddish tongue, thick greasy fur and thready pulse.

Pingwei powder, Wuling powder, Weiling decoction and so on are selected.

2. Cold diarrhea: caused by feeling the evil of cold. Symptoms: fever or no fever, aversion to wind, aversion to cold, stiff neck, cold hands and feet, abdominal pain,

The prescription is Huangqin Decoction and Shaoyao Decoction.

6. Damp-heat diarrhea: due to exogenous damp-heat. Symptoms: diarrhea, foul and sticky stool, or fever, chest pain, dry mouth and thirst,

Breathing and sweating, less urine color Huang Chi; Or diarrhea, purulent blood, red and white, abdominal pain, acute interior and then heavy, red tongue, thick and greasy yellow coating, and rapid pulse.

Prescriptions include Gegen Qinlian Decoction, Pulsatilla Decoction, Gui Ling Ganlu Drink, Liuyi Powder, Muxiang Areca Pill, etc.

7. Diarrhea due to heat accumulation in the intestine. Symptoms: clear water, pure blue color, foul breath, abdominal pain and fullness, press it firmly.

Hard and painful, dry tongue, red tongue, yellow and dry fur, and slippery pulse.

8. Deficiency-heat diarrhea: caused by body yin deficiency, or postpartum yin injury and relapsing damp-heat. Symptoms: abdominal pain, diarrhea, acute diarrhea, and defecation.

Purulent blood, less urine, yellow color, unsmooth, red tongue, less fur and thready pulse.

The prescription is Pulsatilla plus Glycyrrhiza Ejiao decoction, Huanglian decoction, and Zhuling decoction.

9. Cold-heat diarrhea: due to stomach heat and spleen cold, or gallbladder heat and spleen cold.
