German mirror carp is a kind of carp without scales, also known as scattered mirror carp (three scales), the species is the original West Germany introduced varieties, after 20 years of systematic breeding of the Heilongjiang Fisheries Research Institute, has been selected for most of China's culture of the German mirror carp selection line.

The body shape is stout, laterally compressed, the back of the head is bulging, the head is smaller, the eyes are bigger, the scales on the surface of the body are bigger, arranged along the edge, there is a complete line of scales from the front end of the dorsal fin to the head, and there is a line of continuous and complete scales on each side of the dorsal fin which is opposite to each other, and the bases of all the fins have scales, and a few scales are seen on the lateral lines of individual individuals. The lateral line is mostly straight and unbranched, with a shorter branch at the end of the lateral line in individual individuals.

Body color varies with habitat, usually brownish-brown on the back and light yellow on the sides and belly. The age of sexual maturity of the German mirror carp is 3 to 4 years old for females and 2 to 3 years old for males. Breeding water temperature 17 ~ 25 ℃, optimal water temperature 19 ~ 22 ℃.
