When is the best time to sow mustard?
First, the planting time of mustard

The optimum growth temperature of mustard is 15-25℃, and it is mainly sown in autumn. It can be sown from late July to 10, and the harvest ends from mid-September to March of the following year, but the highest yield is sown in August.

Premature sowing, hot and dry weather, heavy rain and difficulty in seedling emergence should be covered with sunshade net. Sowing too late, 2 ~ 3 seedlings with real leaves will encounter cold current and be vulnerable to freezing injury.

Second, the main points of mustard planting

1, sowing method

Shepherd's purse should be spread evenly. After sowing, tread lightly on the border surface with your feet to make the seeds closely contact with the soil, so that the seeds can absorb water and emerge early. Sowing in summer and autumn can be done 1 ~ 2 days before soil preparation, and then soil preparation, such as sowing with new seeds harvested in the same year.

Because the seeds are not out of dormancy, they should be germinated and sown in the environment of 2 ~ 7℃ (refrigerator).

2. Water and weeds

Mustard seeds are small and easily affected by soil moisture, so attention should be paid to watering and moisturizing before emergence, and watering time should be appropriate in the morning and evening. It is necessary to master the principle of gently pouring and frequently pouring, and not to pour it all at once. Mustard plants are short and usually spread. Weeds and mustard are mixed together to weed, which is difficult and labor-consuming. Weeds should be removed in combination with harvesting.

3. Fertilizer and water management

Combined with soil preparation, decomposed organic fertilizer1000-1250kg and ternary compound fertilizer 40-50kg are applied per mu as base fertilizer. Topdressing is generally applied 4 times:

For the first time, after the seedlings were transplanted and survived (5- 16 days after planting), they were irrigated with properly diluted organic liquid fertilizer.

The second time is to apply diluted organic liquid fertilizer every five days.

The third time was 15- 20 days after planting (after entering the lotus planting period), and 667 square meters were irrigated with 40-50 kg of cake-soaked fertilizer or compound fertilizer 15-20 kg.

For the fourth time, 25-30 days after planting (after heading stage), apply 667 square meters, 20-25 kg of compound fertilizer, 0/0-/0/5 kg of chemical potash fertilizer, and water or hole application.

In the whole growth process, the water demand of mustard is small in the early stage and large in the middle and late stage, especially at heading stage. Therefore, scientific water management should be carried out according to different periods to ensure the demand for water for plant growth.
