There are 4 species in this genus. The females of this species have black lip base, black body and purple luster wings. The males often have inconspicuous white distribution on the chest and back plate, and the lip base is white, which is generally distributed in low-altitude mountainous areas. They belong to solitary bees, often appearing in roadside wildflowers and vegetable gardens to feed, and sometimes they can be seen digging holes for nests on bamboo joints, and the number is more common. This species used to be called rattan bee, commonly known as black bee, bamboo bee and black bamboo bee.
