Function: (1) Dispelling wind and clearing heat: used for hoarseness and skin itching caused by exogenous wind and heat. (2) Spot-penetrating: used for measles, often combined with Radix Puerariae and Herba Menthae. (3) Spasm: used for febrile convulsion and tetanus, often accompanied by scorpions and silkworms.

Usage: 3 ~ 9 grams. 15 ~ 30g for spasmolysis.

Duckweed: Sexual taste: pungent and cool.

Function: (1) sweating and relieving exterior syndrome: used for wind-heat cold with less fever and less sweat, and can be combined with mint; Used to penetrate spots, often combined with Cimicifuga. (2) diuresis to reduce swelling: it is used for edema with short and red urine and different exterior and interior (such as edema in the early stage of acute nephritis). It is often used with Herba Ephedrae and Cortex Mori. (3) Cicadas can treat skin itching.
