Where is the seven-star fish?
Seven-star fish has been cultivated and popularized in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province for more than ten years. As early as the end of 1980s, Wang You, a young farmer from Shapo Village, Suixi County, with the support of the municipal fisheries department, took the lead in incubating and breeding seven-star fish fry in this province, which promoted the development of seven-star fish breeding industry in Zhanjiang and surrounding Guangxi, Hainan, Maoming and other places. Before 1997, due to the lack of farmers, limited products and shortage of market supply, the price of commercial fish was as high as more than 70 yuan per kilogram, and general farmers had relatively rich profits, and some even made 7-8 times of profits.

In this case, many farmers have been breeding Qixing fish in succession in a short period of time, but many of them have little knowledge of the characteristics of Qixing fish and the know-how of breeding, and blindly mounted the horse. In addition, the fry produced by many units and farmers are of poor quality. Before 1997 ~ 1998, among Qixing fish farmers in Zhanjiang, there were successful profit-makers, flat farmers and losers. At the same time, due to the large number of people, the output is relatively increased, and the individual commercial fish is small, and the price keeps falling again and again. By 200 1 year, the price per kilogram has dropped to 14 yuan ~16 yuan, which is only 20% of the price in199. The high benefit of raising seven-star fish in the past no longer exists. In this regard, through interviews with farmers and comprehensive market conditions, the author puts forward the following opinions and predictions.

1. Market demand and price trend. Seven-star fish commercial fish are mostly shipped to Hong Kong and Macao. It is reported that the demand for seven-star fish in Hong Kong and Macao markets has not changed much, and its specification requirement is at least150g, and it is more popular with a weight of more than 250g. Therefore, many dealers define the specification as150g or more, while the number of commercial fish reaching larger specifications is relatively small, so the export price is relatively stable. As there are fewer people raising seven-star fish and relatively few products at present, its price is unlikely to continue to decline, and it may rise slightly.

Second, the breeding method is still profitable. Based on the investigation of dozens of domestic seven-star fish farmers in Zhanjiang City (region), it is estimated that the cost of raising 1 kg seven-star fish (weighing more than150g) is about 10 yuan, which is 70% of the local selling price. Its profit rate is equivalent to that of medium and high-grade fish, but much higher than that of conventional species. But the key is to really master the breeding technology. Only if the farming method is correct can it be profitable.

In addition, we should choose and raise improved varieties. Seven-star fish has two different "types": one is that the fish body has many bright green spots, and the fish body is short and full of fat. Distributed in Guangxi, Hubei and other places; The other one has obvious body color markings, and the fish is longer and looks thinner, which is distributed in western Guangdong. For the former type of seven-star fish, Hong Kong and Macao markets are more popular and the price is higher.
