Kangding, Sichuan, has a long and splendid history and culture. Since ancient times, it has been an important town of the ancient tea-horse road. A Happy Horse Mountain is famous all over the world, and a song "Kangding Love Song" has been a swan song, which has intoxicated the whole world. It is known as the hometown of love songs.
Every spring, the hometown has the custom of "beating spring cattle". On that day, there are a sea of people, gongs and drums are loud, firecrackers are ringing, and the hometown people are full of energy and laughter.
"Beating the spring cattle", also known as "whipping the spring instrument", is one of the oldest customs in my hometown, which means that the grain is abundant, the country is prosperous and the people are safe. At the same time, it also reminds people that spring ploughing is about to begin, so don't miss the farming season. Only by working as hard as plowing cattle can we have a good harvest in one year. The ceremony of "beating spring cattle" is usually held at the beginning of spring ploughing, and the place is often the threshing floor in the village.
Sang Mu is used as the skeleton of the spring cow, which is molded from clay. It is four feet tall and eight feet long. The head, horns, body and legs of the cow are all exquisitely made, and the whole mud cow looks lifelike. After the spring cattle are finished, they will be invited to the stage. People lay a few thick piles on the threshing floor, put a few boards horizontally, and surround them with a few large pieces of cloth, so the table is set up temporarily.
Before the "Spring Cattle Beating", people will also put on the grain, wine and fruit to show their admiration for the Spring Cattle. On the day of "Spring Cattle Beating", vendors selling roasted seeds and nuts, sweets and toys set up stalls on the threshing floor early. The old people in the village pay the most attention to this ceremony. Young people wander around the table, adults will generously give the children change, and the children's pockets are full of food and play.
At the ceremony of "Beating Spring Cattle", it is often the elderly with the highest seniority and reputation in the village, and the bullwhip is also very particular. You must use the wicker whip, which symbolizes spring. The bullwhip is two feet four inches long, representing twenty-four solar terms; It has five colors, which represent five directions, namely, southeast, northwest and middle, and also symbolize the five elements, namely, Jin Mu, fire, water and soil.
Whipping the spring cattle is to pray that this year will be a good day. When "beating the spring cattle", the emcee on the stage will also follow the whip and shout: "Welcome to the gods, whip the spring cattle, a dozen good weather, two dozen national prosperity, three dozen bumper harvests, four dozen six livestock prosperity, five dozen everything is fine, and six dozen world peace ..."
At this time, the gongs and drums were loud on the stage, the applause from the audience was thundering, and firecrackers were ringing, which was very lively. After the spring cattle fight, there will be a farming scene. A pair of men and women in costumes, men holding cows and women holding plows, are dancing while plowing. Their actions are exaggerated and playful, and the spring farming is vividly interpreted, which makes the audience laugh. This is the taste of spring.
