Logo is a part of daily life. When you make breakfast, they will appear in your refrigerator, when you drive to work, they will appear in your car, and when you sit down at the table, you will see them on your computer.
When things are everywhere, you may not have any ideas. But Logo (and Logo design) is actually much more important than most people realize.
There are seven kinds of Logo. Each type has its own unique advantages. Let's take a look at various Logos here to help determine which logo is best for your brand.
1. Badge
By typohead? Badge logo designed by maestro_medak and GT Designs.
Badges are just the oldest form of Logo. Also known as seals or crests, people have been using them since at least the Middle Ages, if not before. Badge is a Logo type that contains the text inside the symbol. This is a classic appearance, which makes your logo both traditional and quality. That's why you often see them used by schools and government agencies-they make everything beautiful and formal.
Signs are usually more detailed than other types of signs, including fine lines and small and detailed images. However, this is not a hard and fast rule. Harley-Davidson logo is a very simple logo, and simple sans-serif text is nested inside the badge.
Why did you choose such a sign?
Your brand wants to convey a sense of tradition and/or longevity.
You are looking for your Logo to convey a sense of solemnity.
2. Font logo
Also known as the "logo", the font logo is a logo composed entirely of words or words that constitute the company name. Obviously, the main concern here is text typesetting. This logo style closely links the visual image of the brand with the company name.
Therefore, you must carefully choose or create your fonts. The shape, style and color of words are almost as meaningful as the words themselves. If the name of your company is a meaningless word, as there are so many now-Google, this is a very prominent example, which is even more important.
Google Logo is influential because fonts are simple and elegant-just like their products-and are made up of many colors. Different colors represent many results you get when you search on Google and the diversity of its product lineup. Bright colors are very interesting and easy to use, which makes sense when you think that Google wants their products to be widely used and will not threaten new users.
Why should you choose such a logo?
You are a new company and hope to get your name there.
Your brand has a short name, and you won't feel oppressed when it is a logo anywhere.
Your name is your brand (for example, you are a photographer). Signs help to strengthen the connection between visual memory and name recognition.
Why can you avoid a logo?
You don't want to update your logo regularly. Fonts follow the trend. Helvetica may be all the rage recently, but in a few years, it may be as outdated as the neon bubble characters in the 1980s. Even Google and Coca-Cola need to update their iconic words to keep them fresh.
Your company name is very long.

The combination of Chinese characters has a wide range of uses! Whether it's an acronym such as TASER or an obscure name, such as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (commonly known as 3M), it's easy to see why your company appears in its initial or acronym form.
If this sounds like your company, a letter combination may be more meaningful than a logo. This style of logo focuses the name on unforgettable (pronounceable) parts. You may call HBO HBO, not Home Box Office. If this is what you want to achieve, then this letter combination is not to be underestimated for your brand.
Thirdly, the key of font layout and letter combination (also known as letters). You can get more creativity through the style of letters, because readability is not a problem like logo. The fewer letters, the less likely it is to be mispronounced. Many fashion brands use the logo (think Louis Vuitton, Chanel or Gucci), which is an immediately recognizable symbol of the brand.
Why did you choose a letter combination?
You want the connection between your name and visual image, but the name is long.
You work in an industry, and it is common to shorten your initials.
Why do you avoid using letter combinations?
You are a new company, which has not been established yet. In this case, you can still use the alphabet, but you may want to list your full name below until you gain popularity.
4. Brand logo

When we arrange along this type of logo, you may notice that we are getting farther and farther away from using words. You can think of this as an increasing difficulty in video games-the farther away from clear words, the more weight the actual image must bear.
This brings us to the brand trademark (also known as "pattern trademark"). The image selected for the company logo must be incredibly iconic for ordinary customers to identify. Usually, these logos will evolve from the above types over time. Think about how the Starbucks logo started as a badge, but now it's just a picture of a mermaid.
That's why a new company may use brand trademarks alone. However, the pattern marks are very interesting! I don't want to stop you from choosing one just because you are new. Remember, before giving up the image completely, you need a period of time to mark the text related to the image.
Why did you choose a logo?
Your brand name can be understood literally. For example, Apple's logo is an example of a clear brand name. It is more meaningful for their brand to use pattern marks than marks or logos.
You want to create a brand that is sexy and has an image that you can't name.
Why can you avoid a graphic marker?
You want to be seen as traditional and serious. It is not impossible if you use image markers, but choosing the right image is more challenging.
You still hit your product or service. Choosing an image too early may lock you in as a special way to brand a company. You may want to start with more features and adapt to the brand logo at a later date.

5. Abstract logo
Milos? Subotic,Sign? In and? The abstract symbol of Cvele
Insist on using pictures, but move away from the text representation, we have abstract signs. Use this logo type when you want to use images, but you don't want to be limited by text representation. You can create an abstract logo that evokes people's feelings more than imagination. This may be difficult, because not everyone will interpret images in the same way.
The best thing about these types of logos is that once you put the brand on the market, no one else (wants) to have the same logo as your brand. From the beginning, you can well distinguish your brand from other markets. Nike Swoosh: It's fast, dynamic and conveys movement and vitality. You can know the brand behind a product or advertisement without looking at the word Nike. Even if you are unfamiliar with this brand, you know their position very well. This is where abstract logos flourish-direct and unique recognition.
Why should you choose an abstract tag?
You need a graphic element to identify your logo, but create a more serious tone than most literal graphic logos.
What you want is really unique.
Why can you avoid abstract tags?
You haven't fully consolidated your brand image. Because abstract tags express feelings, you need to know what kind of emotions you want to create in customers before developing images that can achieve this.

6. Mascot
RaidenD's mascot
The mascot is different from the above pictures and symbols in that it is a picture of a specific character (or at least an anthropomorphic character). As human beings, we are visually attracted to seeing another person's face (once again, even if it is really the face of a cute cartoon character). Mascots associate this positive feeling with your logo and brand.
Different from the standard pattern brand trademark, the mascot is also very flexible; ? Mr. Peanut can have different expressions and forms of expression according to the specific situation. Mascots are usually used by sports teams, service companies and food brands because they try to familiarize themselves with potential supporters, customers and consumers.
The biggest danger of mascot logo is that your logo can become too friendly. If you want to take your brand seriously, it may be more meaningful to consider a different type of logo.
Why did you choose a mascot?
You want to attract families or children.
Your brand is thriving with fun, friendliness and optimism.
You need something flexible that can be developed with your company and used in different ways.
Why do you want to avoid mascots?
Your brand needs to send a serious atmosphere.

7. Combination logo
CostinLogopus, arkum and? Combination mark of 99Spy
Not everything in the world is black and white. You don't have to choose just one type of logo. You can combine any or all of the above ideas. You can combine the mascot with the logo, or embed your letter combination in the abstract logo. Brand identity can be supported by identity, and these two aspects of brand can be used separately and in different scenarios.
Think of pigeons-brands use both brand logos (pigeons) and text logos (pigeons), and brand logos are printed on their products. The combination mark actually means "have your cake and eat it" in the world.
Is the combination the right choice for your brand? If you prefer images, but feel that you need the support of words to describe or share your brand, then yes! If you want a flexible logo, you can adapt to different situations, yes. An important aspect of combination markers is their strong adaptability. Depending on the brand changes, you can keep your mascot, give up your logo, or lose your letter combination and keep your abstract logo. We believe that the combined logo is a good choice for new brands that start the logo design process.
Why should you choose a combination tag?
You want the best of several worlds.
You need a future logo that can adapt to your business and future changes.
Why can you avoid using combination tags?
Your brand focuses on simplicity; ? Combination tags may become busy and more complicated to use. Do you put the whole logo on your business card, or just on the label? Where is it suitable to use your mascot and logo? Wait)
Get inspired
A firm and fast rule of logo design is that there are no hard and fast rules for logo design. I hope the above examples can help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of each type of logo, but each brand is different. I have seen serious financial brand rock mascots, and children's wear companies have completely made complex logos. With design, it's all about details and execution.
When it comes to the future logo of the brand, you are only limited by your (and your designer's) imagination. One of the best things you can do when you start thinking about your logo is to look at a bunch of examples (may I suggest our 99 favorite logos as a good starting point? )。 Write down what you draw, and then try to find the same thread. Do you really like letters, or red? Do you like this image because it is cute and attracts your personal aesthetics, or because it suits your brand?
Remember: getting a logo is one of the most interesting parts of starting a business. Look at many beautiful pictures. Make your creativity crazy. I always get a second (and third and fourth) opinion before I finish everything. And I'm glad to see your brand really become a reality!
