Guilin Bean Curd Milk is the first of the "Three Treasures of Guilin", but its origins are less known. The craft of making Guilin curd was formed hundreds of years ago in the Song Dynasty. The origin of Guilin curd is in Sitang Township, Lingui District, Guilin City. Sitang curd produced in Sitang Township was made famous by Chen Hongmou, a scholar in the East Pavilion and the Minister of Public Works of the Qing Dynasty during the Qianlong period, who paid tribute to the royal family, and it was then brought to the court every year as a "local offering". Because Guilin is better known than Sutang, people from other parts of the country call Sutang curd Guilin curd, and over time, people only know Guilin curd and do not know that Sutang curd is actually Guilin curd.
