A fish of the genus Sparus. Also known as big fish and big lotus, Chaoshan area is commonly known as red silver carp.

Sparus macrocephalus is a warm-water benthic fish, distributed in the western Pacific, tropical and subtropical waters, from Indonesia to Japan; China is mainly produced in the South China Sea and the southern part of the East China Sea. Usually inhabit the sea area with sand and mud as the bottom material and water depth of 25 ~ 75 meters.
