The fruit of Phyllanthus emblica is sour and slightly astringent, clearing away heat and cooling blood, promoting digestion and strengthening the spleen, promoting fluid production and quenching thirst. Indications are blood stasis, dyspepsia, abdominal distension, cough, sore throat, dry mouth and vitamin C deficiency.
Among Tibetan medicines, Phyllanthus emblica is mainly used to treat Bacon disease, Chiba disease, hematological diseases and hypertension. Recent research results show that Phyllanthus emblica has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidation, anti-aging and liver protection effects.
