2. Seedling management. In order to prevent the scorching sun from burning people, it is necessary to set up a shed for shade in July and August, water for drought prevention, and topdressing thin and decomposed cakes to promote the growth of seedlings. The seedlings of that year can be as high as 30-40 cm, and then stay in bed for one year before planting alone. Ornamental varieties such as red maple and feather maple are usually grafted and propagated before germination in spring, and 2-3-year-old Acer truncatum seedlings are used as rootstocks. The wound or abdomen needs to be a few centimeters from the ground. After receiving the job, the growth is slow, and management should be strengthened. If single bud abdominal grafting is carried out in summer, the survival rate is higher and the seedling emergence is faster. Castanea henryi is mostly tree-shaped and is not suitable for bonsai. Wild saplings under the forest can be dug back to make potted plants and processed into beautiful ornamental bonsai.
3. Acer truncatum processing is usually combined with climbing and pruning for modeling. Brown silk should be used for climbing and binding, and must be removed in time, otherwise it is easy to get caught. If you use wire for climbing, it is even more important to prevent the wire from being caught. Climbing and binding should be carried out in rainy season or after defoliation. The big branches of Acer truncatum can climb, and the small branches should be pruned. Generally, each branch leaves 1-2 nodes, and the front end is cut off to make the two lateral branches appear ya-shaped, and then trimmed in turn to form a crown.
