It is very auspicious to make a vow to be vegetarian on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month in the temple. You should continue to insist on it. Being vegetarian is not only good for your health, but also a good way to show compassion to all living beings.
The auspiciousness of being a vegetarian
The resentment hidden in a bowl of broth is as deep as the sea, indescribable. You must know why there are wars and killings in the world. For example, two countries fight each other, causing many casualties. This is the accumulation of evil karma of all living beings, and they receive their retribution at the same time. If you can listen carefully to the shrill screams in the slaughterhouse in the middle of the night, you should understand the horror of the endless killing.
Science has now shown that people who eat more meat are more likely to develop cancer. This is because the resentment in the animal body accumulates too much in you, and over time it turns into harmful toxins.
Being vegetarian is good for your health and makes you less likely to get sick. Many diseases such as high blood pressure and fatty liver have been eliminated. If you don't follow a vegetarian diet, you won't be able to escape these diseases.
There is also the retribution of eating the flesh of living beings. There is a blood debt following you, which will have to be repaid in the future, and you cannot repay it. You see, many people suffer from high blood pressure and obesity now because they eat meat. You see, if we don’t eat those things, we won’t be so fat, so we should be vegetarian.
In addition, being a vegetarian also brings a sense of security. The Buddha said in the sutra: Tigers and wolves smell vegetarian people and don’t like to eat them. To those who eat meat, tigers and wolves smell good. Although there are no tigers or wolves now, there are many diseases.
Making a wish is not Buddhism. Make a correct wish and you will have a fulfilling life
This process is no different from signing a contract in the economy and society. The basic principle is to do things according to the contract and then get paid (of course, sometimes Some incense money will also be paid in advance). To put it bluntly, it is a relationship of mutual utilization. No matter how pious such vows and repayments may seem, they are undoubtedly blasphemous to Buddhism and to Buddha and Bodhisattvas. The 'efficacy' you seek is nothing more than a coincidence of cause and effect, and has nothing to do with the blessings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
You cannot find the words "make a wish" or "fulfill a wish" in Buddhist scriptures, but you will often see the words "make a wish". What is the difference between "make a wish" and "make a wish"?
The simple understanding of [Making a Vow] is - I hope to achieve a certain result through certain actions of mine, and I ask the Buddha or Bodhisattva to protect me and help me fulfill this wish. The premise is that the behavior and the desired result are reasonable.
The difference between [making a wish] and [making a wish] is that [making a wish] is based on behavior; [making a wish] is based on results. It will be clearer if we give an example as a metaphor. For example, asking for money. The person who [makes a wish] will say: I ask your divine power to bring me wealth. After that, I will repay you by building temples, statues, etc. A person who [makes a vow] will say: Due to my greed, stinginess, theft and other illegal reasons in the past, my current wealth is not perfect. I vow to repent of all the mistakes in the past, vow to give generously, stay away from greed and stinginess, and never lose money. Give up this wish.
Asking for wishes for others
When my brother has something to do, going to the temple to ask for wishes is also a way to help people, but you need to know that if you eat, you will be full. If your brother is full after eating, it will be too difficult for you to become a vegetarian and miss your brother. The merits of being a vegetarian on the first and fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year will be transferred back to your brother and become one-tenth. His karma will be present and strong. The one who leads first will have a hard time getting what he wants. If you are sick, it is very effective to release a lot of animals, observe the precepts, eat vegetarian food, and repent.
