There is a large pear-shaped fleshy false fruit at the base of the fruit, which is formed due to the enlargement and fleshing of the torus. Only kidney-shaped drupes are real fruits. The cashew nuts usually sold in stores are kidney-shaped drupes. The pericarp and seed coat have been removed, leaving only the slightly white, flat and curved seed kernel, which is the cotyledon and is the edible part.

Cashew nuts originate from tropical America and are now widely cultivated around the world. It is also grown in Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and Taiwan in my country. In addition to the edible cashew-shaped stone fruit, cashew nuts are also edible, and their fleshy pseudo-fruits can be eaten raw, or made into juice, jam, preserves, and wine. Cashew kernels have high oil content and can be used to make high-grade edible oil. The oil from its shell can be used as medicine and as a preservative.
