How to breed earthworms

Earthworm breeding method:

Earthworms like warmth and moisture. Under natural conditions, except for severe winter or drought, they can generally reproduce in warm seasons. It can reproduce all year round under artificial breeding conditions. The growth and development of earthworms is closely related to environmental conditions.

Earthworms can be cultured both indoors and outdoors. In the south, the temperature is high in summer and autumn, so indoor breeding is better. However, large-scale farming can be carried out outdoors, and various warming measures can be used when the temperature is low. But the site must be chosen close to water sources and with convenient transportation. In rural areas, areas beside villages or gaps in the forest can be used.

When the earthworm breeding area is large, water pipes or automatic sprinklers should be installed. The earthworm bed is generally 5 meters wide, with a middle walkway of 70-80 centimeters, but if a truck is used to feed materials, the width should be increased. The walkway should be filled with a height of more than 30 centimeters, and the two earthworm beds on both sides should be 2 meters wide each. Ditches should be dug on the outside of the two earthworm beds to facilitate drainage.

Food habits:

Red earthworms are scavengers and like to live in soil containing a large amount of organic matter. They are now difficult to see in ordinary cultivated land. Therefore, large quantities of artificial waste can be cultivated using organic waste from animals and plants. It has a wide food habit, and its feed mainly consists of cow dung, pig dung and other livestock and poultry dung, rotten vegetable leaves, rotten fruits and vegetables, and various weeds.

In winter, a variety of warming methods are used outdoors according to scale and local conditions to keep the minimum temperature of the earthworm bed above 10-15°C to increase the growth and reproduction speed of earthworms.
