No, Ganoderma lucidum is a folk medicinal fungus. Chinese medicine practitioners in Hong Kong use its sclerotia to treat liver cancer, chronic hepatitis and gastropathy, but they don't know its correct scientific name. Taxonomic research shows that Ganoderma lucidum is not Ganoderma lucidum, but a kind of Polyporus umbellatus. It belongs to Pleurotus, Basidiomycetes, Cladosporium, Polyporus or Polyporus.
