The DNA end of African swine fever virus (ASFV) is crosslinked, and the virus particles have DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Porcine monocytes can reproduce in a variety of cells after adapting to growth, and Vero cell line is often used to culture viruses. Virus particles have red blood cell adsorption. There are at least 8 serotypes in Africa and one serotype in Europe. There are many subclinical chronic cases due to virus variation. The symptoms of African swine fever are similar to those of swine fever, but there is no serological relationship between them. Infected pigs carry the virus for a long time. There is no good vaccine to prevent this disease. The disease is found in Africa, southern Europe, western Europe, Cuba and Central America.
