The mallard is also a type of wild duck.
The male duck has a green head and purple breast, while the female duck only has brown and white feathers
① Appearance identification method. Hold the female mallard in your hand. Those with larger heads, thicker necks, raised and rounded and narrow noses, thick and hard nose bases, flat surfaces, and upright forehead hair are male mallards; while female mallards have small heads, flat bodies, and tails. Spread out, the nostrils are larger and slightly rounded, the nose base is soft, and the forehead hair is lying down.
②Action identification method. When driving away young mallard ducks, the ducks lower their heads and stretch their necks. The ones with high, sharp and clear calls are male mallards; the ones with head held high and the calls low, thick and deep are female mallard ducks.
③ Touch the syrinx method. Touch the syringe. The syrinx of the male mallard duck is spherical in the lower part of the trachea and is easy to feel. The syrinx of the female mallard duck is the same as the trachea in the upper part.
④Anal turning method. Hold the newborn mallard duck in the palm of your left hand, pinch the neck of the duck with your middle finger and ring finger, make the head outward and belly upward, into a supine position; then use the thumb and index finger of your right hand to squeeze out the meconium, and then gently open it anus. In the case of male chicks, it can be seen that there is a 3-4 cm long mating organ, while female chicks do not.
⑤Pinch the anus. Catch the young mallard duck with your left hand so that its back is facing the sky and its anus faces the appraiser's right hand. Use the thumb and index finger of your right hand to gently pinch the outside of the anus. If it is a male duck, you can feel a rapeseed-sized mating organ tube between your fingers; if it is a female duck, you will not feel any foreign body. (This information comes from
