The overall climate is long and humid in summer and short and warm in winter. Affected by the northeast monsoon in the north, the rainy season appeared from/kloc-0 to March, and the central and southern regions were not obviously affected in winter. In May, Taiwan Province entered the rainy season.
It is summer in Taiwan Province from June to September, and the weather is hot. The Taipei metropolitan area is basin-shaped, and the heat energy cannot be dissipated quickly. Coupled with the urban heat island effect, the highest temperature in summer can often reach 35℃ and above, and the average temperature in July can be close to 30℃.
Taiwan Province Island is surrounded by the sea. From September to May every year, when the Siberian cold high goes south, the cold air is reconciled by the ocean, and the temperature in winter is slightly warmer than that in South China. In winter, the temperature in the flat land north of Tainan occasionally appears at 4℃.
The average temperature in central and northern parts 1 month is about 12 to 15℃, and the average temperature in southern parts 1 month can be as high as 18℃. Due to the high terrain, Hehuan Mountain, Yushan Mountain, Snow Mountain and other high mountains above1500m often have snowfall from1/kloc-0 to April.
Extended data
Taiwan Province has abundant precipitation and humid climate, with an average annual rainfall of over 2,500mm, which is about three times of the world average rainfall. Due to different seasons, locations and altitudes, rainfall varies from place to place. There is heavy rainfall in the east and north, and it rains all year round. The area with the largest annual rainfall in China is Huoshaoliao.
The northeast of the Bay is known as the "rain pole" of China, while Keelung Port is known as the "rain port" because of its abundant rainfall. The rainy season in central and southern China is mainly concentrated in summer. The northeast monsoon brought by Mongolian high prevails in winter, and the southwest monsoon prevails in summer. The high mountains block the monsoon and form the rain shadow effect.
Taiwan Province is one of the areas most affected by typhoons in China. The typhoon season is from June to September, with an average of three to four typhoons in summer and autumn every year. Typhoons provide abundant water, but the spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall is uneven, which is easy to cause floods and mudslides. If there is no rain brought by typhoons in summer, it is prone to drought in winter, so dams are generally built in major rivers to store water and generate electricity in rainy season and provide water for people's livelihood in dry season.
