The Chengdu Universiade is the 31st Summer Universiade.

On December 13, 2018, Chengdu won the right to host the World University Summer Games. The Chengdu Universiade is the 31st Summer Universiade. It is the third time that mainland China has hosted the Summer Universiade, and it is also the first time that western China has hosted the World Multi-Sports Games. More than 10,000 athletes and officials from 170 countries and regions attended the event in Chengdu. The event is scheduled to be held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China from July 28 to August 8, 2023.

Chengdu Summer Universiade*** is set up for archery, gymnastics, track and field, badminton, basketball, diving, fencing, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, rowing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball There are 18 competition events in , water polo and martial arts, including 15 compulsory events and 3 optional events, resulting in a total of 269 gold medals.

Introduction to Chengdu Universiade event preparations

1. Low-carbon Universiade

On June 11, 2023, the Universiade City Promotion Series Press Conference introduced low-carbon energy for the Universiade , low-carbon venues, low-carbon transportation, etc. Among the 49 event venues of the Universiade, 36 venues were renovated and upgraded existing buildings, and 13 newly built venues all met the two-star green building standard.

2. Venue construction

The Chengdu Organizing Committee of the 2021 Chengdu Summer Universiade has determined the configuration plan of 51 venues and passed the evaluation of the International University Sports Federation. Among them, Dong'an Lake Sports Center has been designated as the main stadium of the Universiade, responsible for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Universiade, as well as swimming and gymnastics competitions. The Universiade Village project is located at Chengdu University, and construction has officially started on April 18, 2021. It follows the planning and design concept of "openness, integration, green, and intelligence" and relies on the existing campus of Chengdu University for transformation and upgrading.
