The price of genuine French red wine Lafite (Grande Lafite) is probably in the range of a few thousand to tens of thousands of dollars, so the cheapest genuine Lafite needs a few thousand dollars. If you have channels, you can buy some Lafite en primeur, the price of Lafite en primeur may be relatively cheap. The price of sub-labeled French Lafite red wine (Petit Lafite) is also around several thousand dollars, and there are some good quality Petit Lafite red wines that even cost around tens of thousands of dollars. Of course, there are also some red wines under Lafite that cost around a few hundred or even a few dozen dollars.
Why is the genuine Lafite so expensive
Lafite red wine comes from Chateau Lafite, one of the top chateaux in Bordeaux, France. The quality of all genuine Lafite wines is very good. The grapes used to make genuine Lafite Rothschild wine are hand-picked and selected by thousands of people. If the quality of the grapes in a certain year is not up to the standard, then Chateau Lafite Rothschild will not make the Genuine Lafite Rothschild Wine in that year. Moreover, the production of the genuine Lafite Rothschild wine is very rare, only about 200,000 bottles per year. So many people are sharing these 200,000 bottles, things are rare, many people are chasing the stick Lafite Rothschild red wine, a combination of factors down to the genuine Lafite why it will be so expensive.
Level Selection
Wine enthusiasts know that Bordeaux rated the famous chateaux in the region in 1855. At that time, they chose the 61 best chateaux out of a star-studded list called the Grand Cru Classe (in Chinese, "listed chateaux"). Among the 61, there are 5 levels. There are four in the first level, which are Chateau Lafite, Chateau Latour, Chateau Margaux and Chateau Haut-Brion. And of the four, Lafite ranks first.
True and false identification of real and fake Lafite
One: look at the sealing iron
Lafite's sealing iron is the easiest to recognize. Above his design is the chateau castle, while in the center the words Lafite Rothschild are written. The corkscrews pictured here are from the 1980s to 2002, and the design is pretty much the same. The only difference is that the color of the iron is slightly different, with a different red color. The lower right hand side of the picture is a corkscrew for Carruades de Lafite, with Domains Barons de Rothschild written on it and the five arrows of Rothschild in the center. If you look closely, you will see that these five arrows are slightly different from the five arrows of Mouton, with the word Lafite printed above the R in the center, representing the Lafite Rothschild family.
Two: Look at the bottle
Before 1996, Lafite's bottles looked like a normal bottle of Bordeaux, with no design under the neck, but in 1996, the chateau adopted special bottles to prevent counterfeiting.
Back in 1985, the Lafite, bottle was engraved with a special design in honor of Halley's Comet, an astronomical phenomenon that returns only once every 76 years. So the bottle was engraved with the words 1985 and the pattern of Halley's Comet. Apart from this special edition, Lafite remained a regular Bordeaux bottle until 1996, when it was engraved with the Rothschild family logo, five arrows and the word Lafite in the center. By 1999, the bottle had a new trick up its sleeve.
Three: Look at the corks
Showing the corks of the different vintages of Lafite, from left to right, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2002 Lafite corks. On the side of the corks, the year is printed on all of them, but on the top of the corks, there is no pattern or year printed on them, while on the other side of the corks, the pattern of Lafite is printed on the top, with the words Grand Vin de Chateau Lafite Rothschild written on it. In fact, different years of Lafite, the wine stopper design is similar.
