Morphological characteristics:
1. Appearance: Mytilus mystus is slightly flat on its side, with obvious body divisions and sections, with a gray appearance and a body length of 3-18mm. The body of mysid shrimp can be divided into head, chest and abdomen. The caudate segment is the last part of the body, and its terminal morphology often varies with species, which is one of the important basis for identifying species.
2. carapace: The carapace of mysid shrimp is generally thin and soft, slightly calcareous. (about .4 ~ 1.2 inches) long. The female shrimp has an incubation sac, and the young shrimp live in the sac for several weeks. Mostly in deep cold water. Some burrow into the bottom, or crawl on the bottom or on plants. Some swim in wide water belts and occasionally integrate large groups. Freshwater solitary bran shrimp is a common species in cold water lakes in North America, Great Britain and Northern Europe, and is an important food for lake trout. Heteromys in the Canary Islands live in caves and are blind or have poor eyesight.
