Greenpeace, an international environmental protection organization, reported on the 23rd that Lipton green tea, jasmine tea and Tieguanyin teabag all contain methomyl, a highly toxic pesticide prohibited by the state from being used in tea. In addition, "Lipton" Tieguanyin also contains banned dicofol, while "Lipton" green tea contains endosulfan which is not allowed to be used in tea trees according to national regulations.
The report also pointed out that four samples * * * contained 17 different pesticide residues, including 13 pesticide residues in green tea and Tieguanyin, and 9 pesticide residues in jasmine tea. Among 17 pesticides, seven have not been approved by the EU, such as endosulfan, dicofol and bifenthrin, which have been proved to affect male fertility and fetal health.
