Blueberries do not need to be peeled.
When you eat blueberries, you don't need to peel, cut or core them. Blueberry fruit size and color varies by species. Most varieties have dark blue or violet-colored fruits when ripe, such as rabbit-eye blueberries, highbush blueberries and shortbush blueberries, and a few varieties are red.
The fruit is spherical, oval, oblate or pear-shaped, with an average single fruit weight of 0.5-2.5 grams and a diameter ranging from 0.8-1.5 centimeters, with the rabbit's-eye blueberry's single fruit weighing up to 25 grams. Blueberry fruit is generally mature 70-90 days after flowering. The flesh is fine, soft and juicy. The seeds are tiny and can be eaten with the flesh without affecting the taste.
Blueberries can grow several times during a growing season, with secondary growth being more common. In southern China, blueberries have two growth spurts a year, the first in May-June and the second in mid-July to mid-August.
Blueberry growing environment:
Blueberry growth optimal temperature of 13-30 ℃ can tolerate a maximum of 40-50 ℃ high temperature, higher than this temperature range will lead to the root system of poor absorption of water and stunted. Different types of blueberry distribution areas have different climatic conditions. Dwarf blueberry growing season in the distribution area is short, cold winters and cool summers, the average annual temperature of 5-12 ℃, December to January the following year, the average temperature below 0 ℃, the extreme minimum temperature of up to -40 ℃.
Rabbite's eye blueberry and southern highbush blueberry distribution area has a long growing period, warm winters and high summer temperatures, the average annual temperature of 18-22 ℃, the annual growing period of up to 256-285 days, the average monthly temperature in January is close to 10 ℃ or more than 10 ℃, the absolute minimum temperature of -16 ℃ or more. North highbush blueberry distribution area climate conditions between the above two distribution areas, the average annual temperature of 10-120 ℃, the growing period of 150-250 days. The average monthly temperature in winter can be up to 0 ℃ or less, the absolute minimum temperature is often -20 ℃, but not below -30 ℃.
