Interesting talk about seals·Tang Yun
"Tang Yun": Tang Yun (1910-1993), also known as Dashi, Yaocheng, Yaoweng, was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and is a contemporary painter. He has long been engaged in art teaching, Chinese painting creation, and appraisal of ancient paintings and cultural relics. He has successively served as the director of the Chinese Painting Department of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, acting president and painter of the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, director of the Chinese Artists Association, and vice chairman of the Shanghai Branch of the Artists Association. Many of his works have been published at home and abroad and have a great influence. Representative paintings include "Sunflower", "Luffa Weft", etc.
"Big Stone" Seal
This seal is often used by Tang Yun on his paintings. "Big Stone" was obtained during the Anti-Japanese War. In 1937, the Japanese invasion of China broke out, and Shanghai was in crisis. Hangzhou, not far from Shanghai, is also panicked and people are moving inland. Tang Yun's family moved to the countryside of Dashishan, Fuyang, the hometown of his wife Yu Yasheng. Fuyang has beautiful mountains and clear waters. Whenever he climbed up to the Dashi Mountain to watch the sails on the Fuchun River, the troubles of the world were abandoned and he seemed to be in a paradise, so he named "Dashi Zhai" as his residence. After moving to Shanghai, he successively carved several "big stone" seals and used them on his calligraphy and painting works.
"Broom" seal
This seal is Tang Yun's free seal, used for self-discipline and self-motivation. Regarding the origin of "bad broom", Tang Yun said that Cao Pi of the Three Kingdoms Dynasty's "Classic Theory" quoted the slang of the time "if a family has a bad broom, they will enjoy a thousand pieces of gold". He refers to his works as "bad brooms", which means that in the vast ocean of art, he feels that his works are insignificant "bad brooms". On the other hand, when creating, they are conscientious and meticulous. Therefore, from the perspective of "knowing the gains and losses" of artistic creation, they are self-taught, self-respecting, and "not easy to buy." The painter has experienced half a century of tenacious labor and has experienced the joys and sorrows of artistic creation. He cherishes his own works very much. It is easy to understand that "it is a waste of time." It is said that Mr. Tang inscribed this verse on a hand scroll of Lai Chusheng: "It is difficult for the painting brush to attack you, and I will break through the siege when the wine soldiers lose." In front of the works of his peers, he modestly said that he only drank more than him, but Huahua "doesn't take action against you", what a humble and upright attitude this is.
If a true artist adopts a realistic attitude towards his creation, he will have "self-awareness", humility, humility and self-abasement; he will also have self-respect and self-respect, and he will have a high self-esteem when writing. . With this perspective, attitude and realm, you can form a positive force for your own creation to "make further progress and make further progress". You will not be complacent, never stop, strive for excellence, and always make progress.
