1. Keep good water quality. The quality of the water directly affects the breeding effect of soft-shell turtles. The pond water is too fat and even smells bad, which is not only detrimental to the growth of soft-shell turtles, but also affects the taste of their meat. Under normal circumstances, clean river water is poured into the pool every week or so, and the total amount accounts for about a quarter of the original pool. Clean food table residues regularly. In addition, water hyacinth, which accounts for about half of the entire pond, is planted in the pond. In this way, on the one hand, it can purify the water quality, and on the other hand, it can provide the soft-shell turtle with a hidden and quiet place to satisfy its natural living habits as much as possible.
2. Do a good job in disease prevention. In a pond with convenient drainage and irrigation and good escape prevention facilities, stock 2-3 soft-shell turtle fry of basically the same size (50-100 grams) per square meter. Usually every 15 days or so, 30-50 grams of quicklime per cubic meter of water is poured into the entire pool. Unless there are very special circumstances, it is prohibited to step on or catch soft-shell turtles in the pond. At the same time, several terraces were built with bamboo rafts for soft-shell turtles to bask on their backs.
Although the cycle of raising soft-shell turtles in this way is long, and it takes about three years from seedlings to 500 grams of commercial soft-shell turtles, including two hibernation periods, the economic benefits are better. The cost of feed and seedlings per kilogram should not exceed 60 yuan, and the rest is considered income. This method is suitable for domestic small water body farming. It is a better project for the current planting industry and is worth promoting.
Because soft-shell turtles are carnivorous, I feed them some small fish and shrimps. Of course, I cut them with scissors and feed them to them. Other small insects can also be used, such as those bought at the flower and bird market. Mealworms, but you only have one, so you don’t need to buy them, because small turtles eat very little, so it’s a waste if you buy too many. You still have to feed the mealworms. In addition, rice worms or anything else will do. Anyway, as long as If it eats it, you can feed it
But it’s winter now, and soft-shell turtles are cold-blooded animals. With such a low temperature, they have almost no ability to move and can’t eat, so you should get a small basin and put it in A little water, preferably rice water, and then put it in a dark place to spend the winter. As long as it survives this winter, spring will come next year and the weather will gradually get warmer. It will start to recover again around mid-April. Now that it is energetic, you can feed it a lot. As long as it eats a lot, it will grow quickly, which is fun:)
