Di Jun's wife Chang 'e is a beautiful and kind woman. She often helps the poor villagers, and the villagers like her very much. One day, the Queen Mother of the West on Kunlun Mountain gave Di Jun a pill of fairy medicine. It is said that people who take this medicine can not only live forever, but also ascend to heaven and become immortals. However, Di Jun didn't want to leave Chang 'e, so she hid the fairy medicine in a treasure box.
Feng Meng somehow found out about it, and he was bent on getting Di Jun's fairy medicine. On the morning of August 15th, Di Jun wanted to take his disciples out. Feng Meng pretended to be ill and stayed. At night, Feng Meng rushed into Di Jun's house with a sword in his hand, threatening Chang 'e to hand over the fairy medicine. Chang 'e thought to herself, wouldn't it harm more people to let such people take the elixir of life?
So she tactfully dealt with Feng Meng. Feng Meng saw that Chang 'e refused to hand over the elixir, so she rummaged around. Seeing that the treasure box was about to be found, Chang 'e hurried forward, took out the fairy medicine and swallowed it in one gulp.
Chang 'e ate the fairy medicine and suddenly flew leisurely. She flew out of the window, over the countryside covered with Yin Hui, flying higher and higher. There is a bright moon hanging in the blue night sky, and Chang 'e has been flying towards the moon.
Di Jun went out and came back, but his wife Chang 'e was gone. He rushed out of the door anxiously, only to see the bright moon in the sky, shadows dancing on the round moon, and a jade rabbit jumping around under the tree. Ah! My wife is standing by a laurel tree and staring at herself affectionately. "Chang 'e! Chang 'e! " Hou Yi repeatedly called, desperately chasing after the moon. But he chased three steps forward, and the moon retreated three steps, and he couldn't catch up.
The villagers miss the kind Chang 'e very much, and put Chang 'e's favorite food in the yard to bless her at a distance. Since then, August 15th every year has become the Mid-Autumn Festival that people look forward to reunion.
