Making lanterns is a very interesting handicraft activity for primary school students. The following are simple steps:
Materials:
-Colored paper
-?Scissors
-?Glue or tape
-?Transparent tape
-?String or thread
- ?Colored pens or paints
Steps:
1. ?Prepare the required materials.
2. Cut out a square shape from colored paper. The paper size can be adjusted as needed.
3.? Fold the paper into a radius and then into a radius again to form four small triangles.
4. Use scissors to cut off the small triangle at the crease, and then cut a V-shaped shape on both sides of the triangle, as shown in the picture.
5.? Unfold the paper and glue two adjacent edges together to form a cone shape.
6. Attach a piece of transparent tape to the bottom of the lantern to strengthen the structure and prevent fire.
7. Use colored pens or paints to paint various patterns and colors on the paper.
8. Punch a small hole at both ends of the top and bottom of the lantern, and pass string or thread through these holes to hang the lantern.
Primary school students can use different colors of paper and patterns to make lanterns to create their own favorite styles and shapes. This is a fun activity that also helps elementary school students use their creativity and imagination. Note that children should stay safe when making lanterns, avoid using flammable materials, and do so under adult supervision.
